GANTA, (LINA) – Ahead of the festive season of Christmas and New Year, Ganta Police Commander, Inspector Adolphus Zuah, is calling for “more collaboration” from citizens and residents of Ganta to enable security officers fight the growing wave of crime during this period.
Speaking at the Ganta Police Depot on Wednesday, Inspector Zuah said his office has observed an unprecedented growing wave of criminal activities in the city in recent months and cited the increase in crime is due to the residents’ failure to fully collaborate with state security agencies.
The Ganta LNP Chief noted that on numerous occasions, some residents of the city have attempted denying security men from apprehending criminals, while others are bent on shielding notorious criminals.
“These acts on the part of some residents and citizens of the area is counterproductive and undermines the effort of the police in making the city a crime free place,” he observed.
Inspector Zuah said, it is not possible to have police officers deployed in every nook and cranny of the city, but stressed that with the collaboration of citizens and residents, the work of the police and other security agencies will be enhanced and the people are the ones to benefit.
Inspector Zuah cited armed robbery, theft of property and harassment as crimes that have taken the center stage in the city in recent time, even though he could not give more details regarding the number of cases the police have had to handle.
Zuah noted that there’s no way any citizen would move about freely, do business or even go to work in the midst of crimes, making it incumbent upon every citizen to work along with security actors to maintain a crime free environment.
“This thing is about our community. We as police officers cannot work in isolation; we need the collaboration of the general public to ably serve the society,” Inspector Zuah told journalists.
