LIBERIA: Ex-Speaker Tyler Welcomes Peace Talk With Former Pres. Sirleaf
Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alex Tyler, says he welcomes reconciliation talks with former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf after years of misunderstanding that led to his removal as Speaker.
Speaking to newsmen in Dewien District, Bomi County former Speaker Tyler said he accepts the talks to bring together the two former government officials from Bomi County.
According to Tyler, he and his elder from Bomi County had policy difference instead of what people termed as “conflict.”
The impending talks are being brokered by citizens of Bomi County and are expected to take place in Tehr District in the county.
Even though Tyler said he and ex-President Sirleaf had met several times and had discussions but they are not as close as they were before.
“Reconciliation is good but I don’t have anything ugly in mind for my mother Ellen,” said Tyler.
Many believe the removal of the former House Speaker came as the result of the influence of then President Sirleaf during the 52nd and 53rd National Legislature.
Tyler served the Liberian Legislature for 10 years as Speaker, making him one of Liberia’s longest serving Speakers of the House of Representatives.
