PLEEBO, Maryland County — Former Maryland County senatorial candidate Eric Giko says his visit to the county is also an opportunity to respond to community requests and support local initiatives.
Speaking to journalists upon his arrival Wednesday, Giko disclosed plans to distribute large quantities of copybooks to students in Wutuken, Karluway District, where more than 200 students reportedly need school supplies. He said a similar request from Gbolobo in Pleebo Sodoken District prompted additional assistance for students there.
Giko also announced an intervention for Karluway Radio in Karloken, which has been off the air due to a faulty transmitter. He said he has purchased a 40-watt transmitter to help restore the station’s operations, describing it as an immediate intervention while promising a larger transmitter if elected senator.
“I brought the transmitter to get Karluway Radio back on air. I’ve done similar things in recent years for Voice of Pleebo, Voice of Truth, and Radio Harper,” Giko said.
Beyond education and media, Giko said he is expected to participate in the dedication of a bridge constructed in Zone Five Community, Pleebo, with other community activities planned before his departure.
Giko stressed that his presence in Maryland extends beyond attending a funeral, saying he remains available to respond to citizens’ concerns and support community development initiatives across the county.
