LIBERIA: Caterpillar Infestation Hits Maryland

Reports from Marylland  County say a caterpillar infestation has hit five towns in Kardiah Statutory District in the county, posing threat to crops and creeks.

According to Bryant Dioh, a reporter of the William V.S. Tubman University Radio, the outbreak is also affecting the free movement of people, especially farmers.

Dioh told the Liberia News Agency (LINA) in a telephone interview that this is the second caterpillar infestation in the county since December 2018.

Meanwhile, residents of the affected areas are calling on the Ministries of Health and Agriculture to intervene swiftly to prevent the situation from posing a health problem in the district.

They are also stressing the need for the construction of more hand pumps to promote a healthy life for all.
