National Elections Commission (NEC) Chairman Jerome Korkoya has said all is now set for the conduct of the Grand Cape Mount County Senatorial By-election.
The by-election was prompted by the death of Grand Cape Mount County Senator Edward Dagoseh recently following a prolonged battle with cancer.
Speaking in Robertsport City over the weekend where he went to officially launch the Civic and Voters’ Education for the conduct of the by-election, Korkoya said unlike the Montserrado County by-elections where the commission was forced to postpone the casting of the ballots, Grand Cape Mount County voters will not experience any postponement.
According to Chairman Korkoya, the Government of Liberia has made available to the National Elections Commission the amount of US$400,000 for the October 5, 2019 Grand Cape Mount County Senatorial By-election.
The NEC Chairman also indicated that candidates and their supporters also have a stake in helping the commission to meet the October 5 election date by conducting a violence-free campaign and abiding by all campaign laws.
Commissioner Korkoya also told the voters of Grand Cape Mount County that it is their right to cast their ballots for the candidates of their choice that are vying for the Senatorial position in the by-election.
He admonished them to turnout in their numbers on Saturday, October 5, at the various polling centers across the county to exercise their political franchise.
