Rapper Kanye West has filed to appear on New Jersey’s ballot as a candidate for president. Kanye West

West, 43, submitted 1,327 signatures to the state Division of Elections, surpassing the 800 needed to make the Monday deadline for independent presidential candidates, the filings show.

The “Yeezy” fashion designer, who has vowed to run under the “Birthday Party” he created, hasn’t come up with a slogan, according to the filings.

After years of teasing his fans with a presidential run, West announced on July 4 he would be running to defeat Republican President Donald Trump, who the rapper previously said he supported, and Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic candidate.

West, who is currently a resident of Cody, Wyoming, is on the ballot in several other states, including Oklahoma, which he shelled out $35,000 to cover the fee, according to reports.

The filing in New Jersey comes weeks he spurred backlash at his first rally in South Carolina, where he falsely claimed that Harriet Tubman did not free slaves from the south and shared an emotional story that he considered aborting his daughter, North.
