Inter-Ministerial Committee on Concessions Set to visit Mano Oil Plantation

A High power delegation of the inter-Ministerial Committee on Concessions are expected to visit the Mano Oil Plantation on tomorrow Friday, May 10, 2024, in a bid to resolve ongoing protest action by some aggrieved workers of the plantation.

According to a Labour Ministry Press release, this is due to the demand by protesting workers that the meeting be held at the planation instead of the Ministry of Labour in finding solution to their concerns.

The Committee reached the decision during a meeting held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, chaired by Internal Affairs Minister, Hon. Francis S. Nyumalin and Labour Minister Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah at the Ministry of Labour. The meeting was attended by Sen. Darbah Varpilah and Representative Mohammed Dosii of Grand Cape Mount County, the Management and Workers’ Union of Mano as well as the General Agricultural Allies Workers Union of Liberia (GAAWUL).

Hon. Nyuamlin said that in order to handle the matter with urgency, the Committee has agreed to move the meeting to the plantation in adherence to demand of the workers and citizens of the county.

The committee has asked the leadership of GAAWUL to ensure that the workers remain peaceful and should identify a suitable Venue for the holding of tomorrow’s meeting with the workers in Bomi County.

In a brief remark, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mano, Mr. Asaad Fadel welcomed government intervention promising to adhere to the rule of law in working with the government in finding a peaceful resolution to the workers action.

Meanwhile, the Inter-Ministerial Committee has mandated officers of the Liberia National Police to release all protestors in their custody to the Lawyer of GAAWUL ahead of tomorrow’s meeting.

I’m grateful. I have been looking for information on this subject for a time, and this is the best resource I have discovered thus far. What about the bottom line, though? Do you know for sure what the supply is?
