A prominent Liberian Lawyer and also  President of the Liberia National Association (LNBA), Cllr. Tiawan S. Gongloe has revealed that he remains committed to the principles and ideals of   free speech and the rule of law in the country.

He said that, fighting for free speech and democracy in the country has caused him   enormous havoc, ranging from detention, beating and death threats from state actors, especially during the former president Charles G. Taylor regime.

According to him, despite the threats posed to his life in a society gradually overwhelmed by chaos and violence, he will remains resolute in fighting for  what is good and productive for the upliftment of the Liberian society.

Cllr. Gongloe who is one Liberia’s leading Human Right Lawyer made the statement recently he was conferred with the honored of CAM Freedom Award which the highest award by the board and executive members   of the Grass Root Alternative Movement in Liberia for his outstanding and sacrificial services to humanity in Liberia.

conferring of a “CAM Freedom Award” on Counselor Gongloe comes just a little over a week when a group under a banner   “Team Gongloe”, which is a conglomeration of political and interest groupings including the Movement to Ensure Liberia Transformation (MELT), Volunteers for Change (Voice), and Liberian People’s Party (LPP) amongst others called on him to contest the Liberian presidency in the coming 2023 general and Presidential elections.

“Team Gongloe “is a community of Liberians with diverse political, economic and social orientation but bordered with a shared that “a better Liberia is possible” when straight adherence to the rule of law is never compromised.

The group in their statement, expressed the believes that God has bless the motherland Liberia with everything and that its growth and development must be harness only from the rich soil and waters inherited from their ancestors.  

Presenting the award, the   Chairman for Mobilization and Recruitment of the Grass Root Alternative Movement, Mr. Anthony S.Kollie, and lauded Cllr. Gongloe for courage, commitment and consistency in the fight for the rule of law and social justice in Liberia over the years.

Kollie however encouraged him never to give up on Liberia and its people as better days are ahead.
