House Summons CBL Authorities To Address Conflicting Statements From Weah and Boakai About Balance In Consolidated Account
The House of Representatives has summoned the Central Bank Governor and his deputies to respond to conflicting statements made by former President George Weah and President Joseph Boakai regarding the balance of Liberia’s consolidated account.
On January 21, 2024 then President Weah told the nation in a farewell address that the balance in the consolidated account is US$40-million but President Boakai said the amount was US$20.5-million contrary to the former President claim.
In separate communications to the plenary, Representatives Ivar Jones and Dixon Seboe craved the indulgence of the House to invite the CBL Governor and his deputies to provide clarity over the conflicting statements of the two leaders.
