The plenary of the House of Representatives has unanimously voted to pass the special national budget of 2021 in the tone of $342 million United States dollars.
The House of Representatives took the decision Tuesday following a report from the joint committee on Ways, Means, Finance, and Development Planning and Public Accounts and Expenditure with a motion raised by Lofa County District #3 Lawmaker, Representative Clarence Massaquoi.
The executive on May 26, 2021, submitted a draft budget in the tone of $301.5 million United States dollars from domestic incomes.
Submitting the draft special national budget was by section 65 of the amended public financial management act of 2009, which calls for change in a fiscal year and the formulation of a special budget that runs on for six months.
The special budget covers incomes generated from July 1, 2021, to December 2021.
The committee report read, “Following thorough scrutiny, the joint committee on Ways, Means-Finance, and Public Account, about $40 million United States dollars was realized which caused the budget to increase up to 342 million dollars.”
Health and Education were mainly considered in this year’s special national budget.
The budget has been sent to the Senate for concurrence, and subsequently, pass into law.
