(LINA) – The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abraham Korvah, has extolled the Norwegian Government for its humanitarian and development assistance to Liberia, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Minister Korvah observed that the longstanding relations and cooperation between Liberia and Norway have been mutually fruitful and rewarding to the two governments and peoples.
He was speaking recently when the visiting high level Norwegian Government delegation paid a courtesy call on him at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The acting Foreign Minister urged the Norwegian Government to continue its assistance to Liberia, especially in the areas of security, forestry, agriculture and infrastructure as well as the energy sector.
He also also asked them to help provide scholarship opportunities to enhance the capacities of Liberian youths, mainly in the areas of vocational and technical training.
For his part, the Minister of International Development of Norway, Mr. Dag Inge Ulstein, who heads the delegation, thanked the acting Foreign Minister and the Liberian Government for the warm reception accorded his delegation in Liberia.
The visiting Head of Delegation then assured the Liberian Foreign Ministry official of his Government’s willingness to get involved with Liberia’s development drive at all times.
He said his delegation was in the country to reassure Liberians of Norway’s unflinching and continued support to the country’s development initiatives.
While hailing the cordial and longstanding bilateral relations with Liberia, Minister Inge Ulstein disclosed plans by the Norwegian Government to invest in agriculture and forestry, adding that the forest project has lots of benefits for developing countries.
Also, at the Foreign Ministry, the visiting delegation met with representatives of civil society organizations, as well as the media and others institutions.
He further assured them of Norway’s support to their initiatives through collaboration with Norwegian civil society institutions.
