Guinea Bestows Highest Honor For ‘Great Leaders’ On Pres. Weah
Guinean President Alpha Conde has decorated his Liberian counterpart George Manneh Weah with his country’s highest honor for a visiting head of state.
The Liberian leader and entourage left for Conakry on Thursday to hold bilateral talks with President Conde and officials of his government with keen interest in promoting peace and security in the Mano River Union (MRU) sub-region.
The state visit was also meant to improve trade and commerce, and diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries, according to the Liberian Executive Mansion.
President Weah was decorated with the medal of Guinea’s Ordre National Mérite (national order of merit) at a banquet soon after being received at the Gbessia International Airport in Conakry by President Conde and an array of top Guinean officials and members of the diplomatic corps.
“Liberia is a strong partner of our country,” President Conde posted on his official Facebook page.
Established in 1958, the five-degree Order of Merit is the preeminent State decoration of Guinea.
