Grand Kru to Receive Boost in Healthcare as Senator Bartekwa Donates Ambulance and Medical Supplies

By James Myking Suah

Barclayville, Grand Kru County – The healthcare infrastructure of Grand Kru County is set to receive a significant enhancement with the impending donation of a large consignment of essential medical supplies and an ambulance from Senator Numene Bartekwa, Chairman of the Grand Kru Legislative Caucus. This crucial contribution aims to bolster the operational capabilities of Rally Time Hospital, Dr. Dormu Nimely Maternity Hospital, and various health centers and clinics throughout the county.

In a telephone interview on the Voice of Grand Kru’s morning show, “Good Morning Grand Kru,” on Friday, June 27, 2025, Senator Bartekwa revealed that the forty-foot container filled with medical supplies and the ambulance were acquired as part of his broader commitment to improving healthcare service delivery in Grand Kru County. This donation fulfills a key promise made during his 2020 campaign, demonstrating his dedication to addressing the community’s pressing healthcare needs.

The senator’s proactive efforts come in direct response to concerns voiced by county health authorities regarding the critical shortage of functional ambulances for transporting patients with severe health conditions to the referral hospital. Dr. Leagwille Craig, representing the County Health Team, recently expressed disappointment over this inadequacy, underscoring the urgent need for reliable emergency transportation.

While Representative Nathaniel Behway Sr. of Electoral District #1 previously donated an ambulance to the County Health Team, it has unfortunately been non-operational due to mechanical issues since its presentation and currently remains parked at the health team’s office in Barclayville City.

Senator Bartekwa’s planned donation is anticipated to be officially handed over to the County Health Team in the coming days. This initiative further highlights his unwavering commitment to enhancing grassroots health services across the five health districts in Grand Kru County, ultimately aiming to improve patient outcomes and access to vital medical care.
