The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has officially launched the recruitment drive for the 2025 National Cadet Program, signaling a renewed commitment to tackling youth unemployment and fostering career growth among young Liberians.
Supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Liberia, the launch event took place today, Thursday, April 10, marking the commencement of a nationwide application period that will run from April 10 to April 24, 2025.
Widely recognized as a flagship youth empowerment initiative in Liberia, the National Cadet Program aims to bridge the divide between academic learning and the world of work. It offers recent graduates short-term job placements, valuable internship opportunities, and professional mentorship within both public and private sector institutions.
Having made a significant impact over the past decade, the program has empowered thousands of Liberian youths by equipping them with practical work experience, career guidance, and crucial financial support.
For the 2025 cycle, 150 exceptional graduates from universities and vocational institutions across five counties – Montserrado, Grand Bassa, Nimba, Lofa, and Grand Cape Mount – will be selected to participate.
Successful candidates will undertake a three-month internship, during which they will receive a monthly stipend of US$200 to help with their living expenses while gaining invaluable hands-on experience across diverse sectors.
The program strongly emphasizes inclusive participation, actively encouraging young women and persons with disabilities to apply.
This initiative is a vital component of the UNDP’s broader Livelihood and Employment Creation Programme, implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It aligns seamlessly with the government’s overarching agenda to stimulate economic growth through the empowerment of its youth.
Officials at the Ministry of Youth and Sports are urging all eligible graduates to seize this transformative opportunity and actively contribute to the nation’s development.
