Funds For Committee Probing L$16 Billion Sagas Hooked At MFDP –GNN Source Reveals

As Liberians eagerly await the result from the committee setup by President George Manneh Weah to speedily bring to book those who will be caught in the alleged mysterious disappearance of Sixteen Billion Liberian Dollars from the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) is said to be finding it difficult in acquiring funds (Amount not disclosed) from the Ministry of Finance, Development and Planning (MFDP) to perform its task as been requested.

According to GNN source within the committee clothed with the authority to probe those linked to the missing of the moneys, sine the paper work was done for the amount requested for the smooth operation of the committee headed by the Liberia National Police (LNP), with the Financial Intelligent Unit (FIU), the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), the MFDP is yet to make available the funds.

The source further revealed that with the alleged delay of the funds from the MFDP to the committee, the possibility of speeding up the probe in the missing billions will be to an endless stage, meaning that it will be as business as usual, noting that the missing billions will not be recovered; dashing the hopes of the Liberian people.

Our reporter who made several attempts to contact the head of the committee, police chief Patrick Sudu as to the facts of this matter proved unsuccessful.

Also efforts by this news outlet to get to the Minister of Finance, Development and Planning, Mr. Samuel Tweah to ascertain the actual facts surrounding the alleged stoppage of the funds to the investigative committee to do its work proved unsuccessful, as our staff was told the Minister traveled out of the Country.
