For President Weah’s 2023 Nomination, Gov’t Officials Reportedly Compelled To Pay US5K, Raises US75K

Ahead of the 2023 general and presidential elections, where the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) is hopeful of winning a second term bid, the leadership of the party has reportedly charged each Liberian Government officials to pay Five Thousand United Dollars (US$5,000.00) to the party for the nomination of their political leader, and President of Liberia, George Manneh Weah.

According to report, the disclosure was made by the National Chairman of the ruling CDC, Mulbah K. Morlu on last Saturday, November 12, 2022, scores of executive partisans, legislative caucus members, supporters and well-wishers of the governing CDC converged at their party Headquarters in Congo Town, Monrovia.

He noted that those concerned including people he described as ‘Big-big jobs holders’ in the CDC-led government in order to robustly accelerate the reelection of President Weah comes 2023 for another six years rule.

Speaking further to hundreds of partisans, the CDC National Chairman said, “It is our responsibility as patriots for nationalist to overwhelmingly give him a second term so he can continue to build on the foundation he has laid. They say to whom much is given, much is expected,” Chairman Morlu to partisans of the CDC.

“When they gave you big-big jobs, it is also required of you to pay big-big dues to your party,” he told officials of government in a rather serious mood. He cautioned all CDC partisans holding position in the government that due payment for President Weah ranges from US$700.00 to US$5,000.00.

Disclosing further, the CDC Chairman explained that the official nomination of President Weah’s second term bid for the Liberian presidency will be held on December 20, 2022 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex and is expected to attract over one million partisans, supporters and well-wishers.

However, some political analysts who spoke to the GNN over the weekend, condemned the action on the part of the CDC by compelling officials of government, many whom are not pay on time to pay such huge amount for the reelection of President Weah, noting that it should be done willingly and not to compel individuals.
