As thousands turned out to welcome to Liberia the lead campaigner of the December 30th protest, Henry P. Costa amid fear that something would have happen during his arrival by state security as was announced recently by Deputy Information Minister for Public Affairs, Eugene Fahngon that he would be arrested upon arrival from the United States, some Liberians who spoke to the GNN are commending the government for being tolerance.
“I indeed appreciate the Liberian government for been tolerance, and not carrying out situation that would have cause fears amongst the citizenry, with the kind of misinformation that has been circulated over the past months of the arrest of Costa, this government must be commended for this,” an elderly lady identified as Kortu Flomo told our staff.
Over the past months news of the arrest of Costa took the airwaves when Minister Fahngon during one of the Ministry of Information regular press conferences announced that the Liberian government was ready to order the arrest of Costa upon arrival in the country, and that his organization, the Council of Patriots (CoP) will not be allowed to stage any protest in the country seems to be going to the contrary.
But for some Liberians who also stood along the sidewalk to witness the arrival of Costa to Monrovia from the RIA, speaking to the GNN said they were overwhelmed of the peaceful arrival of the CoP lead campaigner without molestation as was being echoed by Minister Fahngon who repeatedly told Liberians of the arrest of Costa upon arrival in the country.
Today’s huge turned out of supporters of the December 30th and Henry Costa has proven Minister Fahngon wrong of his recent declaration regarding the arrest of Costa, and further strengthened more support of the pending nationwide protest organized by the CoP.
