First US weapons shipment arrives in Israel after deadly Hamas attacks: IDF

The first shipment of US weapons arrived in Israel Tuesday as the country wages war against Hamas, according to the Israeli Defense Forces.
“The first plane carrying U.S. armaments has since arrived at the Nevatim Airbase in southern Israel this evening,” the IDF tweeted. “The cooperation between our militaries is a key part of ensuring regional security and stability in times of war.”
The “advanced ammunition” aboard the aircraft will allow for “significant blows and preparation for additional scenarios” against the terror group, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said.
“We are grateful for the American backing and assistance to the IDF in particular, and to the State of Israel in general, during this challenging period,” he added.
National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters at the White House Tuesday that the US “has surged ammunition and interceptors for [Israel’s] Iron Dome” missile defense system at the direction of President Biden.
Sullivan added that Biden, 80, spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday to discuss “additional capabilities that Israel will need.”
