Fireworks factory explosion kills 7 in southern India

An explosion in a small fireworks factory in southern India killed seven people and injured two others, a senior police official said on Friday.
The incident occurred in the Cuddalore district of the Tamil Nadu state.
“Seven people have died and two are injured in the explosion at the fireworks unit. It is a very small unit which manufactures firecrackers,” Sree Abhinav, police superintendent in the district told Anadolu Agency over phone.
He said the factory unit was licensed and the deceased were the workers.
Footage aired by local broadcaster showed people crying near the debris.
Police officials said the cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained.
