Driver Flees, Passenger Arrested After Car Slams into Staten Island Home

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – One person is on the run and another arrested after a car crashed into a residential building on Staten Island early Monday morning.

Police say a car collided into the building located at 350 Jewett Avenue just before 3 a.m.

Upon impact, the driver fled the scene, then the passenger apparently grabbed the wheel and tried to drive off, but was apprehended before he could take off.

He is believed to have been under the Influence.

About a dozen residents were forced to evacuate in the middle of the night, under freezing temperatures.
