Despite the Ministry of Justice stance requesting to know the organizational structure of the June 7 protest, which many viewed as strange methodology to be introduced by the Ministry of Justice, some Liberians who spoke on a local radio station via mobile phone expressed their readiness to form part of the protest in their numbers.
The callers outrageously said the CDC-led Government headed by Liberia’s soccer icon, George Manneh Weah is threading a wrong path by being insensitive of the plight of the Liberian people including the growing wave of hardship, and other unbearable situation under this regime.
“This Government of President George Manneh Weah is insensitive of our plight; can you imagine a cup of rice is now sold at sixty Liberian Dollar, while the exchange rate between the United States Dollar has gone up to one United States Dollar to One Hundred and Seventy-Eight Liberian Dollar; who knows this could reach two hundred Liberian Dollars to One United States Dollars,” one of the callers (Female) expressed her disappointment.
“This June 7 protest is indeed necessary, President Weah and his economic team must see reason and get involve in stabilizing the exchange rate, and also see how best this government seek ways in advocating for the well-being of his citizens. We are concerned of what will happy five months from now,” another caller speaking on the radio via mobile phone noted,
Expressing their frustration on a recent statement made by the Deputy Minister of Information for Public Affairs, Eugene fargon that many of those who are criticizing this Government are not the country people but rather the ‘So-call Americo Liberian people’, the women who called on the radio condemned the statement of Minister Fargon.
“We are not Americo Liberians, we are native people who wholeheartedly voted Mr. Weah into power as our President,” one of the callers rubbished the statement by the Deputy Information boss, and said further,” I who speaking to your is from Grand Kru County, the home of the President, I am an Americo Liberian as being claimed,” she said.
All of the callers vented their frustration on their president, particularly with the level of hardship being encountered under his regime
