Report coming from Nimba County says fear has gripped residents of Kparblee District in Nimba County over the illegal crossing of dozens of Burkiinabes into the country who are said to be contemplating building homes for themselves without the required documents from the Liberia Immigration Services.
According to a local daily, these Burkinabes who have already crossed over at various border entries have established camps in towns along the Kparblee belt, the report quoting an elder of the area, Peter Tiah said, some of these Burkiinabes who crossed border in Kparblee District, electoral District # six are working for people as contractors to give them piece of land to build their homes.
Elder Tiah speaking further said, many of them who came with over 30 brand new Yamaha 100 and other motorcycles are dishing out huge cash to elder of these towns in order to allow them remain in the district to carry out their normal activities in the county.
The District Commissioner, Henry Korso, confirmed the arrival of these Burkinabes, pointing accusing fingers of community members who said they were bringing them in the county as contractors without contacting authority in the county.
Korson added 12 Burkinabess reported themselves to the office of the Commissioner upon arrival in the District, but the others are not cooperating with the authority in the district.
When journalists contacted, the Commander of the Liberia Immigration Services (LIS) in the County, Yea Dolopaye disclosed that the 37 Burkinabes crossed into Liberia through Butuo and dishing out huge cash to citizens, she further added that the LIS Commander assigned in Tappita visited the district and gave many of the Burkinabes documents which she noted that these copies are in her office and the central office.
