Bong County Has Only US$7K In Its Coffer – Says Rep Cole

Bong County Electoral District #3 Representative Josiah Marvin Cole says at this present moment the County has just 7,000 US Dollars in its coffers.

Representative Cole who is the Secretary-General of the Bong County Legislative Caucus speaking to a local community Radio (KWATEKEH)  Thursday morning November 8, 2018 via mobile phone from Monrovia stated that the 7,000USD currently in the County budget, but said is anticipated to be approximately topped up to 1.6 million US Dollars from national budget in the upcoming county sitting.

Authorities of Bong County in the recent times scheduled the upcoming County Council Sitting for this Saturday, November 10, 2018 but news speculated that the sitting might not be possible as the result of the absence of Salala District Representative Moima-Briggs Mensah from the country.

According to report, the Bong County district#6 lawmaker Moima-Briggs Mensah is currently in Nigeria seeking medication.

When the Jorquelleh District #3 lawmaker was quiz about Representative Mensah he said that it is true that Representative Briggs is out of the country but talks are being held among the rest of the eight lawmakers of the county to have the sitting either on Monday or Tuesday, November 12 or 13 respectively.

Representative Cole said there is no one lawmaker of the county that is bigger than the County noting, that the interest of the citizens will be prioritized in the pending County Council sitting.

According to Representative Cole, though he is to shortly leave the country for a medical break but he would ensure as a secretary of the Caucus, that his impart is felt at the first sitting of the county since his election as Lawmaker of the Jorquelleh District #3 in 2017.

He called on the citizens of Bong County to remain united as the development agenda of the county is achieved especially under president George M. Weah pro-poor agenda for development and prosperity.

In keeping with Section 9 Counts (a &b) of the amended budget law of Liberia those to convene in Gbarnga for the county council sitting include: Traditional communities, statutory districts, administrative districts, municipalities and township.
