Boiling Water Attack Leaves Man Severely Burned in New Pleebo

By Christian Appleton

Pleebo City, Maryland County – A horrific incident in the New Pleebo Community has left Francis Nyemah, a 50-year-old man, fighting for his life with severe burns after allegedly being doused with boiling water. The unprovoked attack, which residents are calling shocking, occurred on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

The alleged assailant has been identified as Mercy Geekor. According to Mr. Nyemah, the incident unfolded after a brief verbal exchange. Speaking from his hospital bed at the Pleebo Health Center, where he was rushed for emergency treatment, Mr. Nyemah recounted the ordeal to Global News Network over the weekend.

Mr. Nyemah explained that he had just returned from his farm and was asking his children about his wife’s whereabouts when Ms. Geekor allegedly intervened. He was expressing frustration with his children for not having prepared food in his absence when Ms. Geekor reportedly accused him of making noise.

“Your house is far from here. You’re just passing by and saying I’m making noise? I’m talking to my children; please pass,” Mr. Nyemah recalled telling her, believing the matter was resolved. However, as he stepped behind his house to use the bathroom, Ms. Geekor—who he alleges had been hiding in a nearby kitchen tent—reportedly threw a pot of boiling water from an open fire onto him.

Mr. Nyemah’s wife, Lucia Nyemah, who was away when the attack occurred, expressed profound shock and heartbreak. “My husband had no confusion with anyone. I was shocked when this happened,” she tearfully stated, appealing to the public for financial assistance with his escalating medical bills. “The condition my husband is in is very serious. We don’t have money to cover his treatment. Anyone willing to help can contact you, the journalist, as you always do for others.”

Community leaders have confirmed that the suspect fled immediately after the attack. Bill Kamara, Chairman of the New Pleebo Community, informed FrontPage Africa that the community’s watch forum has launched a manhunt for Ms. Geekor. He also noted that they are in communication with the suspect’s family, who, despite citing financial difficulties, are being urged to contribute towards Mr. Nyemah’s medical expenses.

Given the severity of his injuries and his deteriorating condition, authorities at the Pleebo Health Center are considering transferring Mr. Nyemah to the JJ Dossen Referral Hospital in Harper City for more advanced treatment.

As of press time, the Liberia National Police Maryland County detachment has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
