Boakai Inherits ‘Political Minefield’

-Leadership On Imposed-Clumsy Wheels; As Insurmountable Ambushes Await

By Gus D. Jaeploe |

Sliding speedily down a steep, slippery and bumpy slope leading through a vast ‘political minefield’; pundits indicate that President Joseph N Boakai will definitely need, to comb, the combined  kudos of the strength of Sampson; the courage of Job; the wisdom of Solomon; the gallantry (bravery) of Angel Michael; the eloquent communication skill of Angel Gabriel and the sacrificial, unwavering devotion including the commitment of Esther; if he (Boakai) will have to deliver (rescue) his politically-worn-out people, to progressively weather the pending turbulences ahead, writes Gus D. Jaeploe, should be cognizant that it will not be all milk and honey, bread and butter, let  alone an easy ride imbued with songs and waving of bouquet of flowers all around rather Pres. Boakai will have to practically roll up his sleeves, close his eyes to pity and let what is to be done, is actually done in line with the Constitution and his campaign promises to hs people..

Although Day-One is the ‘golden key’ to immediately open the door to baptism for the 90-100 days in authority with the spreadsheet of revealing the bad roads crunch in the southeast; a grave impediment to the smooth connection of that segment of the rest of the country, which was politically forsaken either out of reluctance or accident by the previous administration, is being rated with high expectation as cardinal litmus test for the Boakai’s leadership.

Despite clarion call for the people to manage their expectations, and not expect too much too soon, but this promise stands as first among equals, politically commemorating the reality of the first 90-100 days in power.       Coming from the platform of the Rescue Team: “Think Liberia, Love Liberia and Build Liberia, in spite of inheriting a political minefield with the government’s wheels overwhelmed by insurmountable governing obstacles, strategically and tactically positioned hardcore critics and diehard detractors are enviously  looking on to see the political magic to be unleashed in restoring the abandoned bad roads fiasco by the last government; vividly in the soonest (mainly) and now frozen on the radar, remains a captivating raddle between the past and present regimes, pundits indicated.

Already, observers are pointing out that in politics, promises made especially during the campaign era and not fulfilled, is the beginning of dreadful erosion dampening trust, confidence and credibility which also carried grave consequences. Again, this uncompromisingly reflect  grim indelible scar on the image of the government and openly portrayed its gross incompetence while critically cautioned the current leadership not to spend precious time on playing “Freetown Ball” and poker, instead of busying its collective energies doing the people’s precious work, observers lamented.

By interpretation, this means, such unfulfilled political promises are bound to strike down the administration’s future chances; therefore, this new government should avoid telling lies, begging for its would-be weaknesses because it will not only put  a dent on its leadership’s image, but more than that, a gloomy mark on its soul; and by extension, should absolutely quit combining business with Christmas, adding, business is business and Christmas is indeed Christmas, remember, they don’t mix, indicated Gblojay X. Neeture, a renowned strategist.

In a lengthy roundtable conversation held in Barnard Farm, outside Paynesville City lately, the participants who critically delved on the end result of a government that does not speak the truth that sleeps the longest on the wheel for years, amassing questionable wealth including uncountable goodies, coupled with the massive abused of state power without remorse, just to numerate a few, should not in any form, shape, manner and fashion, seize the lost opportunity, to shift blames for its dismal political inept, when power slips through its fingers as has been the case  and widely witnessed from the November 14, 2023.

According to them, the politically lacerated and rejected class of 2017 flunkies, in the beginning, it was the best of time, having wine for tears, being loved by almost all, and barely feared by none, they absolutely forgot that at the same time, it should have quickly appeared to them that in politics, day breaks too quick, therefore it pays more handsomely to run while the sun is hot, something they blatantly reneged on until time, in the outfit of history without sympatric, passed by them, again, without even a second thought.

Touching on the reported unfolding trend of event obtaining at the various state’s ministries and agencies regarding alleged lootings at the detriment of the new government, the participants at the roundtable conversation described the plight of the new government as inheriting a political minefield with no prescribed map to demine the safe-passage on the politically fatal field, something to them, is too troubling and deeply worrisome.

On the issues of combined lingering fear and looming irresistible favor based on the weaknesses found in the character of some leaders that soon develop into an untouchable community of sacred cows cronyism, sycophancy, belly-driven and blind loyalists including worthless glee clubs purposely encouraged around as regime defenders of all seasons, the roundtable’s conversationalists did not miss their words an inch in their registered caution and reservation.

Accordingly, they maintained that if Boakai succumbs to the whims, fear to act decisively, robustly and by extension, radically, if the leadership’s campaign promises are to be implemented, then he (Boakai) must step up fully to the plate, and act fearlessly without an ounce of intimidation, by always being on the side of the constitution (law) to avoid exposure of his administrative deficiencies and wanton deficit, thereby frustratingly disappointing the desire and high aspirations of the Liberian people.

However, they injected, if he (Boakai) allows himself and his government to back down and back-off from ruffling feathers strictly in line with the law and constitutional obligations; only to appease those perceived for leaders and others to always fear them because they’re untouchable politically, and financially influential under the fragile rubric of also being internationalists loaded with vast contacts and connections, then and there, begins the political demise of his most cherished administration, thereby reducing the leadership to a skull of the prophet of absolute grim, gloom and doom.

                  Imagined Maladies Of Vicious Concussions

Again, while all the wearying, weeping and wailing of the political losers who have already been told of their political  fate from the result  of October 10 and by extension, November 14, that the Liberian people have disturbingly parted company with them, gave them also their biggest political pay-off equalevent to melting away from the political stage, it is profoundly interesting to note that the badly declared losers have become the clandestine spoilers and dismantling brigades fully armed with imaged maladies of vicious concussions to make governance difficult process for the Boakai and Rescue Team to have an admirable trajectory on the political superhighway.

The pundits strongly cautioned Boakai and Rescue Team to make no mistake, because this is a well-grounded scheme to render your (Boakai’s) leadership totally stuck in problematic gross-and-shattered quagmire; a style of not progressively moving forward let alone, far ahead. The perceived determination is overly glaring as evident by the unleashed outputs in the suit of “propaganda” that Liberians finally chose an ill-fitted–ailing-old-man.

Reflection Of Politically Bruised Country

Remnants of the politically saddled class of 2017 (previous regime) reflect a tough, difficult, badly divided nation comprised nefarious components of tinted image of credibility and accountability including transparency in the sight of foreign partners; governments and international lending institutions, a totally shattered domestic economic structures which grimly affect the independence of the judicial system, thereby chronically simmering, with questionable suffocated dispense  of justice based on the tinted rule of law imbued with handicapped due process;  made completely messed up by the class of flunkies and deserving losers.

Now, are joyful leaders, that the mentioned maladies and vicious concussions will do the job of impossibility to govern with appreciated and widely acclaimed leadership. This equally begins the internal “political cold war era,” because they are no longer at ease, and second place is an affront and absolute disgrace to them, and to them, and most specifically, they must not go down politically in that manner, form, fashion and style alone.

Political Cup Of Hamlot

Now, will Boakai and the Rescue Team afford to drink the imposed political cup of hamlot placed before them as grossly littered political minefield or prove to the Liberian people that true to their plan, all will be done to write a new clean page devoured of all mismatched odds, vices and woes of incompetence, consistency of being inconsistency, justice underminers,(killers) bleeders of law and order  coupled with tampering with the system of due process; systematically looting and massively plundering and pillaging the national coffers including state owned resources.

How puritanical as service providers are Boakai and the Rescue Team are set to really make a significant difference? Boakai’s accumulated widely acclaimed over 40 years of public trust and service will endure the full harsh and grinding crunch when they are hooked under the practical microscope and through rigorous   scrutiny by both the pro and diehard con elements.

So it seems. For now, and so on, is the time President Boakai will be vehemently tested as President of Liberia and Liberians wherein it will also be seen and known if he’ll be his own man or not; be controlled as a puppet ties to the apron’s string of extended power brokers and fear-driven forces that would insist on things being (in most urgent cases) exclusively done their way, and must always go their way.
