Barbados Extends Warm Welcome to Liberians with Visa-Free Travel and “Homecoming” Invitation
Monrovia, Liberia – In a significant gesture of goodwill and strengthened bilateral relations, Her Excellency Dame Sandra Prunella Mason, President of Barbados, has announced a visa-free policy for all Liberian citizens wishing to travel to Barbados. This announcement was made during a state luncheon hosted by His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai at the Monrovia City Hall.
President Mason, currently on her maiden state visit to Liberia, emphasized the importance of her visit as the beginning of a new chapter in the relationship between the two nations. “I want you to know that my visit to Liberia signifies serious business,” she stated, responding to a toast by President Boakai.
Highlighting the practical benefits of this new policy, President Mason declared, “The Prime Minister outlined several key areas we are looking to focus on. But what matters most to me is this: all of you can now come to Barbados without a visa.” She encouraged Liberians to seize this opportunity, extending a personal invitation: “If you choose to visit me, we will be ready to receive you warmly. I want to see you in our home very soon.”
President Mason also made a point of distinguishing the nature of Liberian visits, emphasizing that they would not be treated as mere tourists. “It’s not just because we are a tourist destination. You won’t be tourists—you’ll be coming back home. So please, come back home. We will welcome you,” she assured.
The President’s visit includes participation in an event in Crozierville honoring three Liberian leaders with Barbadian descent: former Presidents Arthur Barclay and Edwin James Barclay, and the late Charles Gyude Bryant, Chairman of the National Transitional Government of Liberia.
This visa-free policy and the warm invitation reflect a deep commitment to fostering closer ties and cultural exchange between Liberia and Barbados.
