Appearing today, Monday, March 18, 2019 at the joint Chamber of both houses (Members of the Senate and the Representatives) in his ongoing impeachment trial, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia, Kabineh M. Ja’neh denied all charges leveled against him by two lawmakers of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Thomas P. Fallah and Acarous Moses Gray accusing him of alleged proved misconduct, abuse of public office, wanton abuse of judicial discretion, frauds, misuse of power and corruption.
Rep. Fallah and Rep. Gray claim that Justice Ja’neh’s exercise of judicial description far exceeded the bounds of elementary judicial interpretation of issues simply to satisfy his personal ego and perhaps vested interest “as it was in controversial Code of Conduct debate just to unduly hurt, shamefully impede and gross frustrate the administration of justice.”
But in his appearing today, Justice Ja’neh rubbished the allegation leveled against, as he repeatedly said he is innocent.
Last week, one of the witnesses, a 94-year old Annie Yancy Constance said during her testimony she never went to court to testify against Justice Ja’neh contradicting those who previously said she had more details of Justice Ja’neh’ misconduct, and other allegations.
While at the same time, Chief Justice Francis Saye Korkpor addressing judges and lawyers denied and dismissed motion filed by lawyers representing Justice Kabineh Ja’neh for judgment of dismissal and acquittal in the ongoing impeachment trial, and has rather decided that the proper and appropriate thing to do is to allow the Respondent (Ja’neh) to take the stand in his own defense if he so elects.
Chief Justice Korkpor for reiterated that the ongoing impeachment trial is being conducted in keeping with the laws of Liberia, “so I shall follow the laws of Liberia and apply them as I verily know them to be.”
