As Tenure Of Cllr. James N. Verdier Ends, President Weah Names Cllr. Charles Gibson Officer-In-Charge At LACC

Outgoing LACC Chair, Cllr. James N. Verdier

President George Manneh Weah has named Cllr. Charles Gibson as Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) until further notice.

The Liberian leader also instructed Cllr. Gibson to ensure adherence to Section 10.1(d) of the National Code of Conduct, which states that, “Every Public Official and Employee of Government involved in making decisions affecting contracting, tendering or procurement, and issuance of licenses of various types shall sign performance or financial bonds and shall in addition declare his or her income, assets and facilities prior to office and thereafter; (d) upon retirement or resignation.”

The President expressed trust and confidence in Cllr. Gibson’s ability to perform, according to a presidential statement issued on Tuesday.

The LACC was established in 2008 by the Act of the National Legislature as an independent organization to investigate, prosecute and prevent acts of corruption of public officials in Liberia
