AfDB President Slates Solidarity Visit To Liberia

The President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina

The President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, will visit Liberia from 24-26 July 2019, at the invitation of President George Manneh Weah.

While in Liberia, Dr Adesina is expected to hold bilateral talks and join statesmen and other high-level dignitaries in celebrations marking Liberia’s Independence Day on 26th July.

A statement issued by the African Development Bank office in Monrovia on Tuesday said Adesina will also attend the official opening of the new airport facilities at Roberts International Airport and the newly constructed government Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, outside Monrovia.

β€œThe Bank has been a strong and strategic partner for Liberia in the transport, energy and agriculture sectors, with a primary focus on road construction, electricity generation and distribution and improving food and nutrition security,” the statement quotes Adesina as saying.

It said that the African Development Bank recognizes the need for continued support to Liberia and is committed to assisting the nation work through its challenges.

The Bank affirmed in the statement that it will particularly assist the government in economic policy initiatives and as well provide technical advice to the leadership.
