Alvina Security CEO Calls For Stronger Government-Private Security Partnership Ahead Of Liberia’s 179th Independence Anniversary

By Amos Harris

MONROVIA — As Liberia prepares to celebrate its 179th Independence Anniversary, Chief Alvin McKay, the Chief Executive Officer of Alvina Security Services Inc., has called for stronger collaboration between state security agencies and licensed private security firms to bolster national safety, public peace, and sustainable development.

Speaking to journalists in Monrovia, Chief McKay emphasized that national security must be viewed as a shared responsibility. He noted that formal coordination between state apparatuses and private security providers is essential to maintaining long-term peace and protecting local communities.

Chief McKay described Independence Day as more than a ceremonial reflection of Liberia’s sovereignty, calling it a vital opportunity for citizens and institutions to recommit to safeguarding the nation’s peace. He noted that security serves as the bedrock for economic growth, explaining that local businesses, foreign investment, and communities can only thrive in a stable environment.

Private security agencies, Chief McKay observed, actively complement state law enforcement by securing banks, corporate offices, schools, hospitals, residential estates, and construction sites across the country.

Addressing his own firm’s role, the CEO highlighted Alvina Security Services’ ongoing commitment to raising professional standards within the domestic security industry. He explained that the company prioritizes rigorous recruitment, continuous professional development, and technical training to equip its personnel with the discipline and ethical values required for modern security challenges. Furthermore, he noted that the private security sector plays a vital role in youth empowerment by providing stable employment opportunities for young Liberians.

To maximize these contributions, Chief McKay urged the Liberian government to deepen its engagement with licensed private providers. He recommended strengthening regulatory frameworks, expanding information-sharing networks, and establishing joint capacity-building initiatives to streamline emergency response and crime prevention.

“As we celebrate 179 years of independence, we must stand together in defense of peace, security, and national development,” Chief McKay said. “Government security institutions and private security companies have a shared responsibility to protect Liberia. A secure Liberia is a prosperous Liberia.”

In closing, the security executive extended festive greetings to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, the leadership and officers of the Armed Forces of Liberia, the Liberia National Police, and private security guards nationwide. He urged all Liberians to celebrate the milestone peacefully and responsibly, keeping national unity at the forefront of the festivities.
