BYU-Pathway Has Proven Online Education Worthy
Distance Learning Though Overlooked
By Bill K. Jarkloh
In a society where online education is often taken less seriously, it is my experience and testimony that the knowledge imparted through BYU-Pathway’s online courses is outstanding and comparable to, if not better than, that offered by some highly respected colleges. More importantly, BYU-Pathway education goes beyond academics. It instills discipline, honesty, integrity, and personal responsibility, helping students become reliable individuals whom society can trust and depend on.
BYU-Pathway Worldwide, an educational institution sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, combines academic learning with gospel principles and scriptural teachings. This unique approach prepares students to face future challenges with confidence, faith, and integrity.
When a service missionary first encouraged me to enroll in BYU-Pathway for a professional degree, I was reluctant. Like many others, I had reservations about online education. The idea of studying entirely online did not seem appealing because of the widespread perception that online learning is less effective than traditional classroom education.
Despite these doubts, I decided to take a step forward and enroll. That decision changed my perspective completely. Through my experience, I discovered the true value of online education, especially the high-quality learning environment provided by BYU-Pathway.
At BYU-Pathway, I found that the preliminary courses I have done so far are professionally designed and highly practical. The program begins with life skills courses that prepare students for real-world situations. The evaluation system is thorough and effective, encouraging both academic excellence and personal growth.
Students are taught essential subjects such as effective writing, financial principles based on self-reliance, accounting, and learning strategies. In addition, the courses address important social principles and different mindsets that help students develop both personally and professionally.
One of the most exciting aspects of BYU-Pathway is that the courses are taught using real-life scenarios and scriptural references. This approach promotes morality, honesty, integrity, and strong character. Furthermore, students participate in weekly gatherings where they share knowledge, learn from one another, and build meaningful relationships that enrich their educational experience.
In conclusion, my experience at BYU-Pathway has convinced me that the education offered by the institution is reliable, trustworthy, and of high quality. It has helped dispel the widespread notion that online education is inferior to traditional learning. I therefore encourage prospective students to enroll in BYU-Pathway and take advantage of the opportunities it provides. A brighter future awaits those who are willing to learn, grow, and persevere.
