CENTAL ENGAGES CNDRA TO HELP COMBAT CORRUPTION AND PROMOTE INTEGRITY IN LIBERIA

Monrovia, Liberia – The Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) and the Center for National Documents and Records Agency (CNDRA) met on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, to discuss strategic collaboration aimed at combating corruption and fostering integrity across Liberia.

The meeting, held at CNDRA’s offices, brought together key leaders from both organizations. CNDRA was represented by Director General D. Nelson Bearngar and Deputy Director General for Administration Gabriel Domah, while CENTAL’s delegation was led by Executive Director Anderson D. Maimen.

According to DG Bearngar, the discussions focused on identifying potential areas of cooperation to jointly contribute to the national fight against corruption and strengthen integrity-building efforts. He emphasized that this collaboration is expected to enhance and establish a culture of integrity among Liberian citizens and bolster CENTAL’s influence and organizational sustainability within the country’s anti-corruption landscape by 2026.

CENTAL Executive Director Anderson D. Maimen elaborated that the engagement seeks to increase transparency and integrity within Liberia’s public sector institutions, particularly those responsible for delivering public services. Furthermore, he noted that the partnership aims to encourage greater citizen action in upholding honesty and transparency throughout the nation.

The CNDRA’s mission is to provide public access to central government records under its custody or control. This access is crucial for strengthening equality by enabling Liberians to assert their rights of citizenship, hold their government accountable, and understand their history, thereby empowering them to participate more effectively in the governance process. The National Archives, a key division of CNDRA, actively collaborates with other centralized agencies, the private sector, and the public to offer timely and relevant information on records and data, ultimately seeking to transform the Liberian public’s relationship with their government.

This partnership between CENTAL and CNDRA marks a significant step towards a more transparent and accountable governance environment in Liberia, leveraging the strengths of both organizations to promote a culture of integrity and public trust.
