Young people of New Yourpea Town in Kpeaplay/Kparblee Administrative District, Nimba County, residing in Montserrado County have embarked on a project in their home town.

The visionary young people, under the banner, New Yourpea Youth Association (NEYOYA), say the project is intended for the construction of a staff quarter for health workers assigned at the New Yourpea Health Center.

They put the project cost at US$15,000.00 (fifteen thousand United States dollars).

Backed by some fellows residing in other parts of Liberia and the world, as well as New Yourpea Development Association (NEYODA), acting leadership of the youth group has broken ground for the project.

Acting NEYOYA’s chairman, Alexander G. Baryou, led a delegation from Monrovia to the ground-breaking ceremony, held during the festive celebrations in New Yourpea Town.

Deputy Public Works Minister, Jackson Paye, served as chief launcher. Minister Paye praised the young people for the visionary step and challenged other citizens of New Yourpea and surrounding to support the project.

Minister Paye, who is also a resident of Kparblee Administrative District, pledged his unflinching support to the project.

Also gracing the occasion was Nimba County District #6 representative-elect, Twain Gleekia, who thanked NEYOYA for initiating such a project. Twain also pledged his support to the project.

Acting Chair Alexander Baryou said the project is a part of their (young people) efforts in improving medical services in the town and Kparblee District as a whole.

“Our medical workers will be more effective in delivering services and responding when they have a good dwelling place. This is what we have decided to undertake this project. We call on all citizens of New Yourpea and the district to join us in making this dream a reality,” Baryou maintained.

Citizens of New Yourpea, through their town chief, Mr. Moses Dahn, have embraced the project. They lauded the efforts of the young people for such a brilliant idea, promising to assist in anyway to ensuring the project is successful.

On his part, the Officer-In-Charge (OIC) at the New Yourpea Health Center, Mr. Jerry Bargue, commended the young people for the vision.

Mr. Gonpue Lahmie made remarks on behalf of the elders, who, along with other citizens, graced the occasion in their numbers.

As part of efforts to begin mobilizing resources for the project, a queen contest was held, with Ms. Rena K. Quoi emerging victorious.

Meanwhile, NEYOYA is calling on citizens of New Yourpea and Kparblee District across Liberia other parts of the world to support the project: in cash and kinds. The youth also called on philanthropic organizations and individuals for support.

In a related development, the NEYOYA’s acting leadership used the occasion to honor some New Yourpea citizens for dedicated services they continue to render.
