Youth United for Progress and Action Brewerville City, Montserrado County Liberia

A pro-advocacy youth group, Youth United for Progress and Action (YOPA) applauds Grand Kru County District #2 Representative-elect, Deputy Speaker of the 54th Legislature Cllr. Fonati Koffa for being among several incoming lawmakers who were elected by Liberians in the October 10, 2023 presidential and legislative elections and will be certificated by the National Elections Commission (NEC) on today Friday, 8 December 2023.
YOPA says the reelection of Cllr. Koffa by his kinsmen in Grand Kru County has paved the way for his election as the next Speaker of the House of Representatives in January 2024 when members of the incoming 55th Legislature elect its leaders for the next six years.
According to YOPA, through its Chairman Diamond Walker and entire leadership and members, as well with the support of Board Chairman, Bobby W. Dixon, Cllr. Koffa’s certification by the NEC on Friday, December 8, 2023 paves the way as forerunner for the Speakership election in January 2024, where it is expected his colleagues will place their confidence in him to lead them in the 55th Legislature.
YOPA also notes that it is no mistake that over 42 recently elected lawmakers have publicly endorsed Cllr. Koffa’s Speakership bid, judging from his records as a profound public servant and jurist who is imbued with the requisite experience and leadership qualities that are needed to steer the ship of affairs at the House of Representatives in the next six years when given the opportunity by his colleagues through his election as Speaker of the 55th Legislature.
YOPA intones Cllr. Koffa is a complete gentleman-politician who knows the strapping of power and leadership, and understands engagements to the benefit of his people. “Koffa is a pride to not only his constituency and family but he is a pride of the entire Liberia.”
YOPA further indicates that Cllr. Koffa is a responsive leader who is loved by people and earns respect for his efficacious legislative agenda beyond the border of his country. He has been instrumental in passing crucial gender-responsive bills, including the Domestic Violence Bill and the Female Genital Mutilation Bill which has earned him international commendations.
The youth group is therefore, appealing to members of the House of Representatives of the incoming 55th Legislature to elect Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa as Speaker of the 55th Legislature. YOPA says the Deputy Speaker of the 54th Legislature cuts across the aisle as a profound legal expert who can bring huge dividends to the First branch of Government in Liberia.
