President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senator, Albert Chie

Following last week’s statement from the plenary of the Liberian Senate that recent comment made by Montserrado County Senator, Abraham Darius Dillon to the media that the entire members of the Senate are “Spineless, Rotten and Useless” which gave rise that he will be investigated by his colleagues seems not to be realized as Senators are said to be divided on the issue.

According to GNN investigation, some senators on Capitol Hill including the former Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Armah Jallah have vowed not to attest their signature on any document that will call for the investigation of their colleague for making statement to the media.

Armah Jallah who is also Senator of Gbarpolu County to a local radio station via mobile phone said he agreed with Senator Dillion, and further backed his assertion that members of that august body that they are ‘Spineless, Rotten and Useless’, and also described the Senate as a body that is responsible for the many problems the Liberian people are going.

Senator Jallah, a member of the ruling party, the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) said he for any resolution seeking to investigate Senator Dillon, noting, “As far as I am concern there is no against Senator Dillon; so I will not affix my signature to any resolution seeking investigation,” Senator Jallah said.

In recent time, the Montserrado County Senator who many described as a man of principle for his consistent advocacy for transparency, accountability and probity in the legislature has, since his induction been publicly exposing and condemning some actions of the Senate, including payment of huge salaries and benefits, alleging corruption in that august body.

Senator Dillon recently rejected to the passage of the recast budget before debating it, sighting its timeliness and other issues he said were not clear, this perhaps angered his colleagues.

Recently, a member of the Liberian Senate who is also an executive of the opposition Liberty Party, Senator George Tengbeh of Lofa County wrote his colleagues regarding the alleged invective being spewed out on them by the Montserrado County Senator, Abraham Darius, and further called for an investigation.
