Son Of Ex-Liberian Vice President Faces Allegation Of Theft

For allegedly depriving the Star Oil Company of the right to its Toyota Tundra Vehicle valued at US$140,000, the Monrovia City Court has summoned Joseph Boakai, Jr. to answer to the charge of “Theft of Property” on Tuesday, July 10.
The defendant is the son of former Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Sr.
The alleged act is an outcome of a rental agreement he entered into with the oil company during the 2017 presidential and representative elections.
The writ was issued on Wednesday, July 4, by the Monrovia City Court.
It describes defendant Boakai’s action as ‘unlawful, wicked, criminal, illegal, and intentional’ and one that violates section 15.1 of the New Penal Code of Liberia.
According to the Writ of Summons, the former VP’s son, out of deception, has since that time concealed the vehicle and exercised unauthorized control over it.
The court is therefore ordering the defendant to appear in court on Tuesday, July 10, to answer to the charge levelled against him.
A Writ of Summon is an invitation served by a court on an accused person ordering the individual to appear and answer to charges levied against him or her.
