After declaring that that if any member of the ruling party ever disrupt the political rallies of the opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), his party will in the strongest terms retaliate by throwing stones at the convoy of the Liberian presidency.
Senator Abraham Darius Dillon’s statement was in reaction to last Saturday incident when his visit to Duala, the suburb of Monrovia was disrupted by some members of the Coalition for Democratic Change, the ruling party.
Following his statement which went viral on social media, the National Security Council of Liberia in a press release issued yesterday, September 14, 2020, directed all security forces , including the Executive Protection Service-EPS, to neutralize attack with ‘surgical precision’.
In a press release signed by National Security Advisor, Jefferson Kanmoh, the government of Liberia stated that it will use maximum force within the confines of the law.
Kanmoh, in a strong worded statement ordered officers of the Executive Protection Service and all other supporting units assigned with the President to neutralize with surgical precision any threat to the safety of the President of Liberia.
“We will protect the life of the President which remains a National Security priority at all times“. The National Security Council release emphasized.
The former Sinoe County Representative further urged the public not to be misguided by anyone into fool heartedly stressing, let alone throwing foreign objects anywhere within the proximity of the President.
According to him, the government takes very serious the September 13, 2020 statement by the Montserrado County Senator Darius Dillon and assured the government uncompromisingly commitment to the maintenance of the rule of law and order and the sustenance of Peace in the Country.
News coming in says Senator Darius Dillon has taken back comments made last evening to attack the convoy and home of Liberia’s President George Manneh Weah, if there were repeated attacks on the CPP or his personal political rally.
For its part, the ruling party the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) categorically condemned the threat of violence and war-mongering emanating from the opposition Collaborating Political Party’s senator, Hon. Abraham Darius Dillon.
‘The CDC calls on all well-meaning Liberians, civil society groupings, the international community, and our development partners to categorically condemn the latest threat on our peace by Senator Dillon,’ release from the party said Monday.
The opposition Collaborating Political Parties has threatened to disrupt the pending electoral process thus, instructing their supporters to throw stones at any government functions, gatherings of the CDC and the convoy of the President.
The CDC says, the CPP, through the Montserrado Senator Darius Dillon, has encouraged all partisans of the CPP to carry with them from now on bags of stones, machetes and firearms to harm people he claims to be CDCIANS.
They continued ‘Mr. Dillon has been campaigning freely; no one has ever attacked him because the CDC believes in peaceful coexistence and the protection of the fundamental rights to movement, association and freedom of speech for every Liberian regardless of their political, religious or ethnic persuasions.’
The CDC views Mr. Dillon’s statement as not only inciting but disruptive of the peace and stability of our country; and is tantamount to threat against constituted authority, a recipe for chaos and a destabilization attempt in our already fragile democracy that we are all trying to nurture to maturity.
‘We call on the national security apparatus to remain vigilant and bring to book anyone involved in any acts of violence,’ the ruling party said.
The governing party said they have facts that the unfortunate situation in district #16 yesterday was staged and orchestrated by known supporters of Sen. Dillon upon his instructions; evident by the brutalization and blooding of many of our partisans attending this Press conference.
The CDC calls on its partisans not to be provoked in the midst of violence and should always to seek legal redress even if violence is meted out against any CDCian.
The CDC makes clear that it will not tolerate any act of violence by any of its structures, partisans or leaders and will not hesitate to institute necessary disciplinary actions against any partisan involved in violence.
‘We hence, call on the United Nation, the Government and People of the United States of America, AU, EU, and ECOWAS to monitor the CPP as it is a violent institution which can do anything in desperation for power, evident by its bloody primary in Nimba which had less than two hundred participants as compared to the CDC’s peaceful and transparent primaries held Nationwide with over fifty thousand participants,’ they maintained.
Furthermore, the CDC strongly frowns on the mass trucking of voters from one part of the country to another by the collaborating Political Parties (CPP) especially Senator Nyonblee Kangar Lawrence of Grand Bassa County.
In conclusion, CDC encourages all Liberians especially eligible voters throughout the fifteen sub political divisions of the Republic of Liberia to take advantage of the voters’ registration update process and want to appeal that the National Elections Commission extends the time of the ongoing voter registration exercise
