“President Boakai Pledges Commitment to Strengthening the Armed Forces of Liberia”

Monrovia, Liberia – January 31, 2025: President Joseph Boakai has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), which he described as one of the country’s most respected and professional institutions.

Speaking at a pinning ceremony held at the Executive Mansion on Capitol Hill, President Boakai commended the AFL for its discipline, professionalism, and unwavering service to the nation. He emphasized that his administration is dedicated to building a stronger and more capable military.

“We will do everything necessary to maintain a strong and respected army, ensuring that our people are protected against any threats to the state,” President Boakai stated.

During the ceremony, Major General Davidson F. Forleh was reaffirmed as Chief of Staff of the AFL, while Colonel Theophilus A. Dana was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. Both officers were pinned by President Boakai in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia.

The event, attended by senior government officials and military personnel, marked a significant step in the administration’s efforts to enhance national security and reinforce the AFL’s role in safeguarding Liberia’s stability.

President Boakai acknowledged the challenges his administration inherited but praised the AFL for its patience and cooperation as the government works to strengthen the country’s security sector.

“I am proud of our army. You have remained steadfast and positioned to serve. Under this administration, we are committed to ensuring that the Liberian Army is recognized as one of the best in Africa,” President Boakai declared.
