President Boakai Commissions New Standards Authority Headquarters, Pledges Economic Growth

UN DRIVE, MONROVIA – February 19, 2026: President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., on Thursday officially dedicated the newly constructed headquarters of the Liberia Standards Authority, describing the milestone as a pivotal advancement in strengthening the nation’s economic transformation. During the commissioning ceremony held at the Ministry of Public Works compound on UN Drive, the President emphasized that rigorous standards serve as the essential backbone of a strong and competitive economy.

The President noted that the new facility will significantly empower the Authority to enhance its regulatory and enforcement capabilities. By ensuring product safety, the institution is tasked with protecting Liberian consumers from the influx of dangerous, counterfeit, and low-quality imports that have previously hindered market integrity.

Furthermore, President Boakai stressed that the institution will play a critical role in standardizing Liberian products across the entire value chain. This elevation of quality is intended to make local goods more competitive in regional and international markets, specifically aligning with Liberia’s standing commitments to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The Liberian leader extended his sincere gratitude to the European Union and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for their steadfast partnership and support. He remarked that such international collaboration reinforces Liberia’s strategic path toward sustainable development and institutional excellence.

In a call to action, the President encouraged farmers, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and innovators to view the Standards Authority as a partner in their progress rather than a hurdle. He noted that as national standards rise, economic opportunities naturally expand, leading to a more prosperous future for the country.

President Boakai concluded the event by officially declaring the headquarters commissioned. He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to building robust institutions and advancing the broader national development agenda for the benefit of all Liberians.
