Physically Challenged People Decry Lack of Logislisics

Craves Local & Intern'l Intervention for Grand Kru Chapter

The leadership of the disabled community in Grand Kru has launched a passionate plead with the national government, local and international organizations to identify with them by providing the needed logistics to empower their free movements across the county.
According to Thomas Doe, the representative for people living with disability in Picnicess community of the county first electoral district, the lack of transportation is the main logistical problem undermining the growth and development of the physically challenged in Grand Kru.
Besides the lack of transportation, he lamented that the leadership of the disabled community within the county is als in a dyeing need of logistics such as wheelchairs, glasses, crutches amongst other essential materials to address their disheartening situation.
Thomas Doe, speaking with the Voice of Grand Kru at the weekend, added that the timely distribution of these items to Liberians living with disability is significant and should warrant the prompt interventions of the government and philanthropic organizations on the national and international scenes.
Doe is a classroom teacher and a student of the Grand Kru Technical College despite his condition.
The lead advocate for those living with disability is also appealing to the government to direct more support to them to provide them opportunity to serve in government positions at the community, district and county levels.
Upon his ascendency to state power, President Joseph Boakai appointed a physically challenged to serve as District Superintendent in Buah.
The move by the President reflects the commitment of the government to empowering and better the lives of people living with said conditions.
It can be recalled that during the heat of the 2023 Presidential and Legislative elections, the legal spouse of embattled Speaker Jonathan Fonati Koffa (Mrs. Koffa) through JFK donated wheelchairs, crutches,  among other items to the disabled community of the county.
Mr.  Doe claimed that those materials are all damaged and can’t withstand the pressure of the road conditions in Grand Kru.
He indicated that by coming to the aid of the community will help in improving their livelihoods within the county.
At the same time,   a female physically challenged  student, Gladys Jlogba, in Picnicess   has emphasized the need for sponsorship of girls with disabilities to improve their lives with support from the Ministry of Education and the local authority.
Gladys Jlogba is a six grade student at the Chlankaleh Public school in Picnicess, Grand Kru County.  Jlogba said due to the lack of a wheelchair, she is finding it extremely difficult to be regular in school.
