‘Over US$4 billion Taken Out Of Liberia In Ten Years’ AIRRT Alarms
The Assets Investigation, Restitution and Recovery Team (AIRRT) says it has found out that over 4(b) billion United States Dollars was taken out of Liberia in the past 10 years.
Addressing a special edition of the Ministry of Information Culture and Tourism (MICAT) Press Conference Friday, August 2, 2019, the head of the Team, Arthur Johnson, said they are investigating how such huge amount was taken out of the Country.
Cllr. Johnson said: “Portion of money was used to fund individuals in the name of establishing businesses, while another portion was illegally transferred through other institutions.”
The Assets Investigation Team Head then emphasized the need for a strong monetary mechanism in Liberia to curtail capital flight.
