The National Traditional Council of Liberia on Thursday September 8 officially welcomed former Liberia’s Finance and Development Planning Minister, Amara Konneh back to Liberia.
According to the head of the Council, the ceremony was also organized to appreciate Mr. Konneh for the construction of their national headquarters.
The former Liberia Finance and Development Planning Minister, Amara Konneh returned to Liberia last week after nearly 5 unbroken years of international services with the World Bank, MIT and the rest of the International Community.
The colorful ceremony which was organized at the newly constructed headquarters of the National Traditional Council on Camp Johnson Road in Monrovia brought together chiefs and elders from the 15 counties of the country to appreciate former Minister Konneh for his support to the council during his 4 years of service as Finance and Development Planning Minister of the country.
Speaking on behalf of the National Traditional Council of Liberia, Chief Zanzan Karwor lauded the former minister for what he termed a “compassionate decision” to finance the construction of the new headquarters of the National Traditional Council at the time of their homelessness.
Chief Karwor described former Minister Konneh as the “Darling boy” of the National Traditional Council of the country whose heart is full of love and respect for the chiefs and elders of the country; and called on other public officials of government to emulate his good example.
For his part, former Finance, and Development Planning Minister Amara Konneh thanked the Traditional Council for the recognition and urged them to continue playing an active role in the country’s recovery and development process ; highlighting the pivotal role played by the traditional leaders in shaping the country’s recovery and development since 2003 at the end of the country’s 14 years of civil upheaval.
Former Minister Konneh recommitted himself to working with the National Traditional Council of the country to maintain peace and Unity across the country.
