NEC Warns Political Parties Of Early Victory Celebrations

The Chairperson of the National Elections Commission (NEC) Mrs. Davidetta Browne-Lansanah has issued a strongly worded statement warning political parties, especially those claiming that they have won the ongoing counting of ballots from the just ended presidential runoff results.

The country’s electoral head gave the warning on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at a news conference to release the first provisional results from the presidential runoff election involved incumbent President, George Weah and opposition Joseph Boakai.o

In recent time, partisans of one of the political parties took the streets rejoicing, claiming that their party has won the presidential runoff, with this the NEC said no political party should announce itself as winner in this election, adding, “The National Elections Commission is the only constitutional entity to declare any political party a winner in these elections”.
