NEC Postpones Senatorial By-Election Due To Lack Of Budgetary Allocation From Gov’t

The spokesman of the National Elections Commission has disclosed that due to the lack of US$3.9 Million to successfully hold the senatorial by-elections will not take place as scheduled, Mr. Henry Flomo said.
Recently the National Elections Commission (NEC) Chairman Cllr. Jerome Korkoya on March 6, 2018 mandated the Clerk of Writs, Ms. Antoinette B Johnson to issue the Writ of Elections to the four Elections Magistrates of Bong and Montserrado counties to conduct by- elections, caused by the election of Ambassador George M Weah as President and Senator Jewel Howard Taylor as Vice President of the Republic of Liberia.
This latest information from the NEC seems to worry many of those who earlier expressed their interest to contest the vacant senatorial seats created as a result of the election of Montserrado County Senator George M. Weah as President and Bong County Senator Jewel Howard-Taylor as Vice President respectively.
