NEC Holds 3-Day Review, Adoption Of Media Code Of Conduct Ahead Of October 10 Polls In Buchanan

Ahead of the October 10 poll, the National Elections Commission (NEC) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) gathered media stakeholders including, editors, publishers and senior media practitioners in the port city of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County to review and adopt media code of conduct for elections reporting 2023.
Issues to be highlighted during the three days deliberation were preventing conflict through professional reporting, signs and dangers of misinformation. Disinformation, mal-information and hate speech to the 2023, gender responsive reporting on women in politics, legal framework to NEC’s statutes, regulations, policies procedures, structure and mandate of the NEC, hearing complaint procedures amongst others.
Facilitators at the three days’ workshop were Henry Flomo; NEC Communication Director, Jefferson Massah of Internews, Cllr. Aagon Tingbie from the UNDP, Representative from the UN Women, Atty. Nathan Garbie of NEC, and Mrs. Siatta Scott Johnson of FeJAL among others.
