NEC Dashes UP Lofa County Senatorial Candidate’s Hope

Joseph N. Boakai, Unity Party Political Leader

Unity Party fate hangs in balance  over its representation in the Lofa Senatorial by-election, as NEC Hearing Office mandates Board of Commissioners to prohibit endorsement issuance form until Supreme Court probes all constitutional matters

The mandate by the NEC Hearing Office was contained in a ruling handed down on Thursday, after weeks of legal battle into claims filed by Musa Bility’s faction of Liberty Party and Alternative National Congress against the All Liberian Party and Unity Party, regarding their withdrawal from the Collaborating Political Parties.
NEC Hearing Officer, Atty. Fomba Swaray said the NEC Hearing Office cannot take decisions on the constitutionality of the matter, as being raised by defendant and complainant lawyers on fielding of candidates.
According to him, it is only the Supreme Court clothed with such authority to do so.
