Naymote to Host 12th Young Political Leadership School Africa in Monrovia
Naymote Partners for Democratic Development is set to host the 12th cohort of the Young Political Leadership School Africa (YPLS Africa) from June 9–13, 2025, at the Bella Casa Hotel in Monrovia.
The five-day leadership development program, themed “Unlocking Africa’s Potential: Youth Leadership for Economic Development and Political Stability,” will bring together 120 emerging leaders from across the African continent. The initiative emphasizes gender inclusion, with 45% of participants expected to be women. Participants will include young politicians, civic activists, entrepreneurs, journalists, and leaders from civil society organizations.
The program aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, aiming to empower youth with the knowledge and tools needed to advance political stability and economic development through ethical and visionary leadership. Over the course of the program, 17 interactive sessions will be facilitated by 13 national and international experts in governance, leadership, and electoral systems.
A major highlight of the event will be the participation of Her Excellency Josephine A. Nkrumah, ECOWAS Resident Representative to Liberia, who will serve as the Keynote Speaker. In a significant moment, former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf will attend as Guest of Honor and receive an Honorary Leadership Award in recognition of her contributions to democratic governance and women’s empowerment.
The opening ceremony will feature goodwill messages from diplomatic and development partners, including representatives from the Embassies of Ireland and Sweden, the European Union, the United Nations, and a special envoy from the Office of the President of Nigeria.
Speaking ahead of the event, Eddie D. Jarwolo, founder of YPLS Africa, reaffirmed Naymote’s dedication to fostering a new generation of principled and innovative leaders. “We are proud to be cultivating a movement of young leaders who are principled, innovative, and determined to shape the future of Africa through democratic values and good governance,” he said.
Since its establishment, YPLS Africa has trained more than 1,000 young changemakers, building a dynamic network of youth leaders working to transform the political and economic landscape of Africa.
