The Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) in collaboration with Media Hub Liberia, a private media firm over the weekend assigned the relics of Gabriel Nyenati Wilson (Executive Horn) to the National Museum. Gabriel’s artifacts put on display include his Eulogy, remnants of the Executive Horn, costumes, utensils and a copy of the 2012 edition of the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs’ monthly magazine dubbed: “EXECUTIVE HORN”. The honoree died in a motor accident while returning from an official duty in Bong County with President George Manneh Weah on Sunday, February 10, 2019.
Speaking at the dedicatory ceremony at the National Museum on Broad Street Saturday, March 23, 2019, Assistant Information Minister for Culture, Margaret Cooper Frank and Media Hub Liberia Chief Executive Officer, Weah Karpeh said the late horn tooter did not only bring the traditional horn to the limelight but to the level of national politics. Assistant Minister Frank and CEO Karpeh said Gabriel will long be remembered for his invaluable contribution to art and culture, and to the State.
In their remarks, the Ambassadors of Sweden and Ghana Ingrid Wetterqvist and Ernest-Burke Asare Asiedu respectively said Gabriel was a symbol of the Liberian culture, and added that the recognition manifested his contribution to the State. The two diplomats said his deeds will long be remembered for upholding the culture of his Country.
On their part, Grebo Elder and former Maryland County Superintendent, G. Wah-Mle Elliott and the Wilson-family spokesperson, Sie-Teba Neufville said the traditional horn was used to motivate warriors during the tribal wars, and to date inspires national leaders in the performance of their national duties.
