Having visited the Liberian Senate on Capitol Hill over the last six months to eagerly study the workings of this great and significance section of the Liberian lawmakers, especially the upper house, it was noticed that the office of the Senate Pro-Tempore under Professor Albert Tugbe Chie has gained a level of respect in that august house.
Professor Chie who is also Senator of Grand Kru County has been estimably noticed for his renowned professional leadership at the Senate; his worth of experience over the years as a sound administrator has arguably won many of his critics to confess that indeed he is a leader.
Despite of unforeseeable challenges at this upper house, Pro-Tempore Chie has always made it his duty to build a strong ties at the Liberian Senate amongst members of that uniquely organized of the Liberian Senate, steering its affairs in the desirable interest of the Liberian people.

The Constitution of Liberia requires the Senate to elect a president pro tempore to serve as presiding officer in the absence of the vice president. The president pro tempore is authorized to preside over the Senate, sign legislation, and issue the oath of office to new senators.
This assignment has been solely shouldered by Senator Albert Tugbe Chie who, according to political analysts who spoke to this outlet said, the Pro-Tempore amidst numerous political challenges has over the last four years extremely performed well in the undertaking of his statuary duties as Senate Pro-Tempore, and abled Senator of his home County, Grand Kru County in the southeast of the Country.

Speaking further, Nimely recounted that prior to Senator Chie’s ascendancy to the Liberian Senate, Albert Tugbe Chie was the only person who he noted built a modern and state-of-art residential duplex in his home County.
His legislative responsibilities seems to also gain international attention when he paid a visit to China in 2019 to meet that Asia Country’s top political advisor, Wang Yang, sharing a bilateral relationship with both countries, making sure that both Liberia and China sisterly relationship remains solid.
Wang who is also Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, noted during the visit of Senate Pro-Tempore, Senator Albert Tugbe Chie, that China and Liberia are good friends and partners who respect each other and treat each other as equals.
Wang said the two sides should jointly promote the Belt and Road Initiative and implement the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit, deepen political mutual trust, strengthen pragmatic cooperation and facilitate bilateral cooperation to yield more progress. Wang also expressed the readiness of CPPCC National Committee to enhance friendly exchanges with Liberia’s Senate.
For his part, Pro-Tempore Chie said Liberia admires China’s great achievements in reform and opening up and thanked China for its support and assistance to Liberia.
Liberia firmly adheres to the one-China policy, and will actively participate in the construction of the Belt and Road to strengthen win-win cooperation, his ably representation of the Liberian government and people in China at that time overwhelmed lots of Liberians both back home and abroad, as he served as trailblazer of the Liberian legislature in China during that historic visit.
