Mali president and PM ‘arrested,’ says mutiny leader

BAMAKO: Mutineering troopers in Mali on Tuesday detained President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and Prime Minister Boubou Cisse, certainly one of their leaders mentioned.

“We are able to let you know that the president and the prime minister are below our management,” the chief, who requested anonymity, informed AFP.

He added that the pair had been “arrested” at Keita’s residence within the capital Bamako.

Earlier, troopers launched a mutiny from the close by garrison city of Kati.

One other navy official, who additionally declined to be named, mentioned the president and prime minister had been in an armoured automobile en path to Kati.
